Amano Christian School began as the Lord led Phil Grove and Michael Pflaum to begin a new work. They saw the need for a school that would be available if Sakeji School had to close, a distinct possibility at the time, but that would also provide Secondary schooling for the children of missionaries and others. In the Lord’s providence Sakeji remained open but the two schools now co-operate closely, with Sakeji students often coming to Amano to continue their education. The establishment of Amano was not dependent on any one mission - Phil serves with CMML and Michael is the Director of the work of the Liebenzell Mission in Zambia. The present staff of Amano combines people serving with CMML, Liebenzell and independently. Liebenzell Mission is a somewhat more structured organization than CMML and as a result they have provided a great deal of support and expertise at the school. Other organizations, including Brass Tacks, continue to be used of the Lord in the development of the work at Amano. Amano Christian School is overseen by Sunnybrook Christian Trust, which owns the land on which the school stands and operates the work on the site. The Trustees, together with some invited members, constitute the School Board.

Amano Christian School Trust (UK) [ACST(UK] was set up in April 2005 and was registered as a Charity in the UK on 19th October 2006. All 6 Trustees have visited Amano in recent years. The object of the Trust is: The advancement of the Christian religion by providing funds and support as felt necessary by the Trustees for the work of Amano Christian School, Chingola, Zambia. Donations can be made to support students and Zambian staff, either through regular or one off gifts. Details of sponsorship arrangements can be provided. As a UK Charity any donations made by UK tax payers can be enhanced by 28p for each pound donated when the Trust makes a claim under the Gift Aid scheme. This is not possible for UK tax payers who donate through Sunnybrook Christian Trust as that is registered in Zambia and not eligible for Gift Aid.
